What makes the best material for valve guides and why?

Respectful greetings to ye Seasoned Moparian Gearheads! The more I research the matter of refurbishing cast iron heads, the greater my self confidence grows toward making the effort at home, except for a sonograph, magnaflux hot bath and if necessary …

What sort of valve spring compressor best suits Moparian V8 amateurs?

Apropos of my previous thread on valve seats, I now ponder what sort of valve spring compressor I need to begin work on my cylinder heads which I CAN reasonably do without unreasonable chances of ruin. I own a small, cheap, poorly made valve spring compressor which I wouldn’t trust on a lawn mower valve, so I want something large enough to easily, reliably compress the valve springs on these numerous cylinder heads I’ve horded these past 5 years. Advice from professionals and amateurs…

Hardened valve seats for iron heads; worth it or not?

Facing the eventual necessity of a valve job and head replacement, I would like to make the 915s I purchased a year ago serve. To my knowledge, these have not ever been prepared for use with unleaded petrol, and I wonder if investing in hardened valv…

Greetings Moparians!

I started getting some carburetor backfiring yesterday, and am checking This and That in search for a remedy. I thought this particular set of symptoms most likely caused by air horn warp, but NOW have a wholly different hypothes…

Greetings Moparians!

While progress with the Morris Family Plan for Regeneration of Mathilda slowed to a pathetic crawl as ambient temperature soared to literally breathtaking new record highs in the Sonoran Desert, I’ve discovered a fatal problem with an idler arm installed just 3 short years ago! It has to be replaced, ASAP, so I’ve ordered another Moog from Rock Auto for the present, with no great confidence, but not much immediate dread either.

I decided to proceed with new tie rod…

Smooooth Riding Now, New Springs and Shocks!

Wish I’d done this sooner, despite the expense. I bought from ESPO Springs n Things their leaf spring kit, with a pair of 7 leaf, heavy duty springs arched 2 inches over stock. I completed this upgrade with a pair of KYB Gas-a-Just shocks and have definitely smoothed out the ride and retained a good clearance and ride height for the rear. The old springs appear to have been worked over once, likely just before I bought the car given the condition of the bushings, and also clear evidence…

At LAST! A REAL Custom Seat Cover Maker, with GOOD Product!

Greetings Moparians, and Felicitations for All seeking New Seat Covers or Upoholstery,

I began my search for GOOD seat covers for Mathilda’s aging velour upholstered seats as soon as we drove her home 5 years ago. I found a couple promising looking businesses who supposedly knew how to cover the split top 50% bench seat in our Newport and fairly common to slab sided C body Mopars.

We finally got enough extra funds to purchase some good covers this past winter, but WOE and ALAS!, the two…
