How Necessary is a Power Steering Cooler and WHERE to Find one for 5/8 inch hose?

As a followup to an earlier question about 1959-66 TRW pumps and systems with them, I now ask the Learned Elders,

1.) How vital is a cooler for the power steering system?

and

2.) if the answer to 1.) above is “significantly” or more, then WHERE should I look for a cooler meant for 5/8 inch hose?

This latter issue bugs me! I stupidly ordered a cheap shop branded cooler from Retard Auto Parts, got a cheap little Hayden meant for ’67 and more recent stuff with 11/32 inch hose to go with…

Spring Seasonal Cooling System Notes; Maintenance and Upgrades

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn’t it a pity
Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half-dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

Federal power steering pump interchangeability

Greetings Moparians!

Having just replaced my water pump and radiator last weekend, I noticed while reattaching the power steering pump to the housing (long, tedious tale due to pump having been “superglued” into the housing by shellac) that the pump no longer turns easily. I’ve been dreading this turn, and am searching for a suitable bolt-in replacement for the old Federal pump, IFF I can find one!

I’ve noticed there are some Federal pumps specified for later model C body Mopars and am…

Is there any brand of valve stem seal clearly superior to others?

Greetings Moparians!

Havig noticed a slow increase in the volume of oil smoke at start-up, I’m inclined to suspect that the valve stem seals on the 516 heads Mathilda currently runs should be replaced. I would like to do this before Summer Solstice ideally, and pray this will suffice to keep those heads working well until I’m ready to put some well rebuilt 915s on as an upgrade.

I DO NOT want to break the seal integrity of the head gaskets for any trifle! I plan to research first the…

Is there any brand of valve stem seal clearly superior to others?

and NOW, 1966 PACKAGE TRAYS!!??

Greetings again,

Apropos of my previous thread, I obtained some suitable 6×9 speakers that drop neatly into the sheetmetal behind the back seat. This has become ALL the EASIER given that the 55 yr old package tray DISINTEGRATES WHEN ONE DOES MUCH TO …

Collector’s Auto Supply Rear Shocks?

Happy News!

My rear leaf spring order from SpringsnThings is due Friday. Soooo, I need to consider which rear shock absorber to replace the coil-over Monroe Load levelers I installed to supplement the tired flat steel in my 55 yr old original leaf springs. Looking at the Rare Parts website revealed some big, beautiful U.S. made rear shocks with a SKU# 51273. Turns out they’re claimed by a “Collector’s Auto Supply” outfit.

Have any of you used rear shocks made by these folk? How do they…
