Hello

Mike Davis here from St. Petersburg, FL. I've been out of the hobby for a while, although I build cars for a living at Impressive Rides in Clearwater. I imagine most of you know of my current customer, Dean Skuza's father Don.

Anyway, I've owned 3 70 Swinger 340s in the past, and I sold my last one in '90 to finance my 340 powered front engine dragster. I ran it for a few years here at Sunshine Dragstrip, and with a nearly stock motor, it ran consistent 6.20s at 107 in the eighth mile. I previously ran a 67 Dart with 273 2bbl 904 in street for a few years and did pretty well.

I am presently gathering up parts to build a street/strip toy. I have 2 340s in the garage. I bought an old street racer 72 Duster for parts, mainly the narrowed Dana, Milodon pan and odds and ends. I bought a 70 Dart 4 door donor car with a good front end etc, and I am looking hard at a 72 Dart shell that's in pretty good shape. I can't afford to build a purist clone, but it will more or less look like a 70 340 car. I won't be after lots of power, just something fun that I can drive to the track on Friday night and go a few rounds. It will have A/C, power steering (don't want it) power 4 wheel disc, sway bars etc. with rallye wheels, black paint.

I hope you all don't mind if I pick your brain, I've forgotten a few things about parts interchange and such. This looks like a great place for information.

Mike
