360 clatter – High volume oil pump/deep oil pan

I've just had a 360 motor rebuilt. It was an original motor, heads done, block boiled and bored 30 thousands with a mild hydraulic cam. I'm getting a lot of noise and clatter on the top of the motor. I have installed new rockers and rocker shafts (with the oil holes facing down toward the outside of the motor). On startup I get about 40-45 lbs of oil pressure at idle and then the pressure drops to 15-18 lbs at idle when hot. I have a high volume Melling oil pump with a stock replacement Milodon 5 qt (4 plus 1/filter oil pan). I was inquiring about an oil pump pressure spring to bring up the engine oil pressure and was told yesterday from a tech rep @ Jeg's that I need to install a higher capacity oil pan (7qt) if I'm running a high volume oil pump because the stock pan capacity won't keep up with demand. Also, he recommended putting adj. rockers on the motor instead of the non adj. I have now. I have not driven the car but for only about 30 minutes because of the ticking noise under the valve covers. The ticking noise did totally go away for about 15 minutes during that time but returned the next day when started. Does anyone have any thought on this?
