Why????…….

Why do you need to grind a p/u tube? Well, I'll tell you. You build a 500" stroker(440 based) and think you need a 1/2" p/u and a 7 qt pan on the street.......

Sorry, but my opinion is different. When is a car that is 90% + street driven, need a cat dragger for an oil pan? Maybe they feel intimidated by a street hemi pan that's only 6 qts. and doesn't hang below the k frame by 2 inches. Then why does it need a 1/2" p/u when 3/8" is fine for a street car? A 1/2" only matters above 6500 rpms continuously. This car will rarely see 5500 rpm's. And on top of that, do you really need to grind half the metal away of the tube just to clear the rod end???? Not good. Look at the pics.....

I am disappointed in the machine shop that built this motor for this customer. I have been cleaning up their "race" motor ideas since this car came in. :angry7:
I am not going to state who built it, so please don't ask. I don't feel the need to bring their name into this. I just don't see the necessary reason to put oil pans on cars that are bound to get nailed by something on the road or just bottom out( it is the bay area roads after all) and to overbuild a motor. Rarely do I have customer that races their car more than 10% of the time. Even then on a big block, that is why we use street hemi pans all the time.

Now what to do with the new p/u tube....grind or peen it????

Ok, rant over.........so please folks build it with use in mind.:read2:
