Thermoquad/Quadrajet swap question.

I am sure someone has tried this swap! ;)

Can a Thermoquad carb be installed on a '85-up stock Mopar 318/360 Rochester Quadrajet manifold

The manifold appears to be the same, except for the choke well for the electric choke coil/heater unit, which is not drilled for the mounting bolt. I knowthe Quadrajets used were integral electric choke, but I find it hard to believe that Mopar recast the manifold just to swap carbs when the Carter Tquad was dropped.

I have been told that the choke unit will not fit the manifold....but I don't know why! I have never tried this myself, as I used an Edelbrock 1406 with adapter, which has the integral electric choke. There are a lot of truck 4bbl manifolds out there that could be salvaged for a 2bbl to 4bbl swap for you 318/360 leanburn guys, if the Thermoquad can be used.

The advantage to this is that the Thermoquad is better in low end throttle response and fuel mileage than the Edelbrock, and possibly the Quadrajet, plus, there are still a lot of Thermoquads out there waiting to be saved from the junkpile!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give! ;)
