Has anyone used a steel shim gasket for their transmission pan? I purchased one cheap at a swap meet last weekened. In a couple days i'll be changing the pan on my 904 auto. It's much thicker than the gasket that came with my new pan. The guy I bought it from said "not" to use black rtv sealant. Instead he said to use di-electric grease on both sides. He said it will never leak. Does this sound right? Also said I could wipe trans fluid around it with my finger. Has anyone here messed with these kind of gaskets before? Sounds odd to use di-electric grease.
