Looks like I may need a new crank, but I will at least have a machine shop look at mine first.
Thrust bearing was toast and cut into the crank a bit. That's what a hugely stiff Ram clutch will do for you, I guess.
It also explains why I was having problems getting my clutch adjusted correctly.
Everything else looked great..... I was hoping it would be a simple cam swap with new rod and main bearings tossed in for good measure.
But as life has shown, things are never that easy.
On a happy note. It feels great to be going through an engine again. I didn't think I had it in me anymore. It's both relaxing and fun. Makes me feel younger.
If my wife would have let me put the moves on her while I was head to toe in oil and sweat it would have been a perfect day.
