This morning I broke down the springs off the "too short rolling frame." The one photo--stolen off ebay-- is the spring plates. These are upside down, and stamped steel. The go the "other way up" on the bottom of the axle which is below the springs. So the slightest bit of mud that slops into them and dries forms a cup to collect dirt/ grime/ corrosive material.
