Have you guys read the latest article in the Mopar Collectors Guide on the CAFE standards that, if I'm reading correctly, Obama has already penned?
If the article say what I believe it does, then it's a done deal......unless there is some kind of radical revolt in Washington to stop it......
We've lost virtually ALL of the new muscle cars with the new regulations, and if new emissions standards are in the mix as well, we could also lose OUR HOBBY as we've known it.
I'm writing this in the general section because I believe it has merit for ALL of the members to read and understand.........These new CAFE regulations could very well be the death nell to the cruisin' hobby, effectively making our classics nearly useless (with alluded emissions standards thrown in the pot)........that is, unless it is stopped.........I for one do NOT KNOW how it can be stopped........
What I'm asking here is for any further input or insight from members relative to the ramifications of the new standards (that being a 35 MPG average by the year 2011.......????!!!!!) which would effectively erase from production all of the cars we've just begun to enjoy seeing produced again......
Any comments or greater insight into the article would be appreciated. Anyone else read it? Any comments? (and I don't mean to rail against a politician......I mean, what will this mean to car production (American) and possibly to our hobby?
