I picked up a used Melling High Volume oil pump the other day for cheap and the guy said it was running no problems on a 318. At home I gave it a closer look and I see it has a small hole drilled in the pressure relief valve / spring cap. I know that the way to remove the cap is to screw something into the tin cap so you can pull it out to get to the valve and the spring, but this is all assembled and was apparently working in the engine.
