This is a pseudo "good guy alert". I started my search for a MOPAR "B" body. Always wanted the pistol grip 4 speed. I stumbled into this "A" (68 GTS) and decided to add a pistol grip. I read many threads on this.
I bought a pistol grip from Jason @ Gunslinger, but when I got it, the shifter would be under the dash pad in 1st gear:
I contacted Jason and he asked me to take some measurements, which I did. He sent me a mock up of what he thought would fit, with an added suggestion on "back tilt" and "height". I sent the shifter back to him and he had the modifcations done (3" back & 1" up) and sent back to me within a couple of weeks. Here's the shifter now in 1st gear:
and 2nd gear:
Second gear looks close in this picture, but it's not. The grip is much higher then the front edge of the seat. It works perfectly!!
