I've had this engine noise and now I think it is coming from the fuel pump. My fuel filter is nearly empty but the car does not die or hesitate. Should the filter be full or just how much gas should be in it while the engine is running? The sound reminds me of a slight piston slap but seems to be coming from the pump. Do I need a new one? Thanks!
