Figured out what was wrong with my carb…

... Nothing!!!

I wasn't getting manifold vacuum from the carburetor (Edelbrock Performer 1400) and took the carburetor off to look under it. I figured there'd be some channel running directly from what I thought was the manifold port to the area under the throttle plates, but I didn't see that. Both the drivers and passenger side of the primary throttle plates looked the same so I put the carb back on the car. I did figure out it wasn't hard to take off and squirted myself with some gas while opening the throttle plates, so that was fun. :)

I get back in the house and look at my instruction sheets and the internet. Lo and behold, the 1400 is the only carb on the edelbrock page that says includes timed ports, EGR, and fuel vapor. So, as best I can tell, since my instruction sheet points to the drivers side port as EGR, that EGR uses ported vacuum, or some variant thereof. Why the Edelbrock tech couldn't tell me that when I called them a few weeks ago, I don't know. The good news is nothing appears to be wrong with the carb and I have been worried it was messed up for no good reason.

I need to learn to read ;)
