Fender brace and Oil filter bracket done!

winter is here and time to do some housekeeping. I decided to do some chrome and polish. Before I started, I wanted to add a couple items. First, the oil filter was mounted with just a couple spacers to hold it off the inner fender. These spacers looked very amateurish, so I decided to fabricate an aluminum mounting block. I made it out of cardboard first then cut it up to make a pattern for the aluminum stock. A buddy was kind enough to tig weld it up for me after I cut all the pieces. When it was done, we added the oil pressure gauge to dress it up. Then the inner fender support bar was made. I took a piece of steel tubing and some flat stock and fabricated this support rod. This should help re-enforce the front end. I have been working on these for a while and today I just got the fender brace back from the chrome shop. They did a great job.

This picture shows the engine bay with the support bar and the oil filter bracket.

This is a closer view of how the support bar attaches to the fender-well. and how the oil filter bracket is on the inner fender.
