Drive down to Monterey

My wife had been working some long hours, it was Mother's Day, needed to get away from the 6 year old and I was in the dog house for almost three weeks so I told my wife we were going down to Monterey for the weekend. Haven't been down there since 2004 while my first time was 1970. So along with learning how to deal with an upset Filipina I have also come to the conclusion that California just isn't that much fun anymore. Simply too damn many people here that all the joy of a road trip has been erased. The trip home, of 125 miles, took 3 hours because of bumper to bumper traffic on a two lane stretch of highway that was empty in 1970. To think that I was thinking of taking one of the older cars down next time because I got miss led by the fact that the early morning drive was a breeze. One still has to get home and that was enough to make me stay away from going south.

Anyway we wandered the 6 mile trail through Point Lobos before heading back late afternoon to check in. Spent 13 hours in the room with her and will now have to go into hibernation for awhile. Sunday was a Cannery Row walk and then take a drive along the famous 17 Mile Drive through Pebble Beach. After that it was the return trip to hell. Yet, while doing the drive, I passed by a large parking lot hidden back in the trees. and my eye caught a quick glimpse. Hit the brakes, made a U turn and headed into the parking lot which was the employee lot for Spanish Bay. Absolutely huge lot if you ask me. Drove to where I saw my target and here she is a daily driver. What my eye caught was just the driver's side headlight between the pines as you can see the road in the second picture. By the way I think the car is slammed.
