The Texas DMV has almost attained “you can’t get there fromhere” status.
My wife’s 24 year old granddaughter has been living with usfor several months, trying to get her life straight. She has never had a driver’slicense and has been trying to get one. She obtained a learner’s permit withoutmuch difficulty, but jumping through the hoops required to get a license isnearly impossible.
My wife took her down to the test station a few weeks ago,but they wouldn’t issue a license because the granddaughter didn’t have two piecesof ID. Since she didn’t have a license from another state, and they wouldn’taccept a copy of her social security card along with her passport, she had tofind another way. The next day, she opened a local bank account and then had towait for a statement that was at least 30 days old and contained her currentaddress.
After waiting nearly two weeks for an appointment for adriving test, and armed with those originals she went back to try again thismorning. Nope! The passport is no good as she needs two pieces of ID with hercurrent address. Naturally, they didn’t manage to communicate that fact to herthat the first time she went there. However, they said they would accept a billcontaining her name and my address. She’s living with us and I’m paying all thebills, even her phone, so she has nothing like that to provide. They then saidif my wife furnished two IDs and signed an affidavit that it would suffice. Mywife presented her driver’s license and her military spouse ID card with photo.Nope, the military card didn’t have her address. Then they said she could showher vehicle registration…again it didn’t work, since the car is registered inmy name. Being she doesn’t carry around a copy of her bank statement, that wasn’tan option either.
Armed with bank statements, homeowner insurance, bills morethan 30 days old, voter ID, and anything else we could find with names andcurrent addresses, they are off to try again this afternoon.
What I wonder is how in hell do illegals manage to get adriver’s license? Are blacks going to protest discrimination?...or don’t theyhave to provide all that crap? My guess is they simply drive with a license,and the rest of us have to put up with the bull s**t!
