Still harping on my distributor-FIXED IT!

Well I went out to the garage and took the distributor advance plate out on the work bench. Found that the pivot stud wasn’t broken but was not peened in place properly when new and finally fell out. This dist has an oil cup for the upper bushing. Here are a few pics.

Alternator and pulley question

Hi all,

What is the smallest size serpentine alternator pulley that I can use (have made)?

I am looking at KRC’s pulley system ( for my street car) but their water pump and crank pulleys are only 4 inch.

This will be a street machine with EFI, electric fuel pump, stereo, locking, alarm etc and I am also not sure what amp alternator would be best to use.

Turn Signal Switch

How do you pull the wires for a new turn signal switch through the steering column of a 63 valiant. I have the steering wheel off. The new brass connector clips do not seem to want to make into the slot in the upper part of the steering column while pulling them with old wires.

Thanks!

Jeff

Started up my 318 ’68 Barracuda (I’m the original owner) a couple of days ago and waited for my wife to come out. It was running well and then just stopped. Put off the cruise and began the search… no spark. Took off the distributer cap and found the advance plate had broken off its pivot. This was a replacement distributer I had put in back in the middle ’70’s because the original had a worn upper bushing which made the timing wonky. I still had the original one wrapped in plastic to avoid…
