Quick question on horns…

Hello. Car is 68 Barracuda. I put a new steering column in. Everything is hooked up right. Problem is my horns. Before I put the steering wheel on, I connected the two
contacts with the wire, and the horns worked, they honked.

Then I put the steering wheel on, and connected the wire and they don’t honk. All I hear is the horn relay making a “clicking” noise. Everything is grounded properly. I hooked up an electrical tester, the power probe ll, which is quite a dandy little tool where you…

No Spark

MSD 6a, MSD Blaster Coil bypassed resistor. Car was running fine I went to the store, on the way there it started to hesitate a little almost like a miss fire. Car sat in the parking lot for about 20 minutes while I was in the store. Tried to start and no fire. Plenty of fuel no spark from coil, tried another coil and same story. Motor is brand new slant six been running fine over the last couple of days, started for the first time on 5-28-10. Always started on first crank MSD products are only…

Electric diagrams

Hello all
I came across something today, that drove me crazy.
I am starting to rewire my Dart, and I have to match up the connectors from the ignition switch to the new system.
I was looking at the wiring diagram which I got from my Mopar for the 73 Dart. The ignition terminal on the starter relay should go to the yellow wire on the ignition switch connector.
That diagram showed it going to the horn relay.
Then I checked the diagram I bought from classic car wiring.com, and it appeared to…

Not firing up!?!?!

You can follow our car at the link below and see the car show we were at last weekend;
http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=44709&page=15
The problem started before the show when the car would occasionaly let out a small backfire when idleing the few days before the show. Then when driving, it ran very rough, accelerating poorly and feeling as if it was on 7 cylinders. We got to the show and were coming home when the car died two blocks from home, suddenly dying and rolling to…

vacuum advance

Trying to figure out the ignition vacuum advance.
When I look at the shop manual for a -67 383 engine with 4 bbl carb, the vacuum advance should be set at 7.5 degrees at 12 ” of vacuum. At what numbers do you guys set your vacuum timing advance or do you just tinker with it until best performance and gas mileage?
When I set the initial timing at approx. 22 degrees I get the total of 38 degrees with mechanical advance.
My reading of the vacuum at idle is 12″ with the MP purple 284/484 cam….

Can I use this ateernator?

I bought this rebuilt alt. way back in the day ’cause it looked like the one in my Barracuda and it was only $20.00. I wanted to put it in my ’68 Barracuda today so I could drive it while the original is rebuilt. Before I started I noticed it has two connectors marked ‘FLD’ for field whereas mine only has one ‘FLD’. Will I be able to use this alt. and if so how do I hook it up? The original in the car has part # 2095192 and the rebuilt one has # 3438201.
