Can some of you gurus tell me what my compression would be with these numbers? I’ve tried a bunch of different calculators online and am getting answers all over the place. I’ve also put the cam specs here too for some opinions. Thanks!!

Stroke- 3.38″
Head cc- 88cc
Head gasket dia.- 4.40″
Compressed thickness- .020″
Pistons- .030″ in the hole (Hughes #2050 I think)
Effective dome volume of pistons- -5.0 cc

Is there an easy way to tell if your heads have been shaved? I just bought a 383 from another member and was curious as to what the compression ratio is gonna be. I think it may be pretty low with stock chamber 452’s, Hughes 2050 pistons, and a .039 head gasket. Any insight fellas?

Well, I think I’m gonna sell it to fund an ongoing engine project. $375 with shipping to lower 48. No cracks, pits, etc. Missing a piece of the chrome inlay from about 10 oclock to 2 oclock position. Switch is pretty hard but will still blow the horn in a couple places. Let me know if you want to know anything else. Thanks.

Well, for the last year or so I have been planning a 408 stroker build and getting all the parts down on paper as far as what I will use and what it will cost. I was a couple days away from the machine shop when I read an article in my latest mag where they added a cam (xe285), carb (850 demon), intake (M1), and headers to a bone stock spec 383 and ended up with 450 hp and around 460 torque. Well I’m on the 6th and hopefully last (bad) day with this crap. I havent had the flu since I was 12, now 29 and holy $hit is it nasty. I couldnt even keep water down last Saturday- just kept puking it back up. But, I should be heading back to work tomorrow thank God. This sitting around the house is driving me nuts. Local news said its all over the state so watch out neighbors!
