My 68 dart melted the fuseable link and smoked the auxilary charging wire as I pulled into the movies last night! I pulled a battery cable super quick and went on in to see the movie (madagascar 2). Apparently the ignition switch had an internal short off of the start circuit that went to housing/ground initially and finally affected the run circuit. I replaced the fuse link and tried it with the old switch and it heated up the wire in start (you could hear it arc) so I replaced the switch and all seems ok. Any of you have an early style switch fail like this?
