I need help trying to find out what and were my problem is, i just install a 408 stroker in my duster, but i forgot to bolt on the neg cable to the block at first start up there was smoke from under the dash, this is were I,m lost

the smoke came from the ground wire on the steering column, replaced
Have check all of the leeds to the box,coil and dist, all have the voltage need to work but the car still runs very rich and if you drive down the road and you accelarate slow your ok until to 2500 rpms then there seems to be no more advance and the car just stuggles and won't go any faster,park the car and your eyes will water from the fumes, any one have this problem before?
