My exhaust pops occasionally at idle and idle only. No backfiring.
I have a question for you guys. I have a 74 dart with a 318. When I bought it, it was in need of a tune-up. I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, oil, and oil filter, air filter, pcv, checked all lines for leaks, plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, distributor, new factory holley 2 barrel carburetor. Reset timing for factory setting of TDC. The car starts and runs great, Idle is about 700-750. Idle is perfect in park but when you put it in drive the idle is not as smooth. When driving, the car runs and drives great with smooth engine purring like a kitten. I've never had a V8 exhaust pop like this before. It's not horrible and have read online that my performance exhaust may lead to this. I have also read that some people like this. The car has hooker headers that were on it when I bought it. Does anyone have this same problem?, if it is a problem. Looking forward to a little feedback.:read2: P.S. I've played with the timing from TDC to 10 BTDC. Doesn't seem to help.
