Stumble right after launch

I had big problems off the line last night, which I originally thought might be carburetion.

After more thought, I think it may have been a fuel starvation issue rather than a carb issue. Stock gas tank (no baffling or sump or anything), less than 5 gallons of gas in it (about 2 gals when I left at the end of the night), and for the first time decent launches (for me anyway). It would launch, stumble and die for about 3 seconds, and then get itself back together and take off. It felt like one of those Pro Mod cars with the weird computer delay thingie. I had 6 passes, and they were mostly low-13s @ 109 (+/- 1) with 2.4-ish 60 ft!! The one 12 I had I intentionally left at a much lower RPM, but it still had a mean stumble. My best previous run was 12.58 @ 112, but I forget how much gas I had at the time. I was leaving at around only 2000 rpm that time because I didn't really know the car too well and got it up to around 3200 last night which would have been a lot better if it weren't for this stumble.

So with the launch and the little bit of gas I had probably being forced to the back of the tank, would that be enough time to starve the fuel line that quickly? I tried jetting back up 2 sizes out there, I richened all the idle mixtures about 1/4 turn (just for fun), and then later tried connecting the air tubes in the carbs with a piece of rubber tubing with a slot cut in it. None of that worked at all. I think the issue was as simple as not having enough gas in the tank...
