New fan shroud – what a difference

Just wanted to say that I built a new fan shroud last week out of .025 aluminum sheet and pop rivets and it works really well and way better than the first one I made. It's less complicated, easier to remove and install, lighter, and helps move way more air. I really couldn't believe how well it worked: driving in 95 degree stop and go traffic and on I-40 in Albuquerque yesterday it kept it right around 190-195; the old one would have been at 205-215. When it did heat up to 205 or so while idling for a few minutes in the heat, it actually cooled back down to 195 once I got moving, which the old one would not have done. All for less than $20!

I still watch my gauges like a hawk, but it's great knowing the temp gauge isn't going to come up as easily.
