have an 84 that had a 318 in it. [until the daughter over heated it to the point of " I drove it till it quit"] any way took the motor out of my 76 duster too put in the truck. 84 had some emissions on it, deleted that. blocked off the tubes on the exhaust manifolds. 360 motor is bored 60 over,292 duration cam 510 lift,heads are 360 j heads with 2.0 intake valves and hard seats, motor has 50 quench pistons in it. took single plane intake off, put on the stock intake off the 84-318 with the 2 barrel carb on cant get the ignition timing set. running regular fuel in the duster I ran premium fuel sometimes with race gas mix. the truck pings when you try to pick up speed . do I need to run premium fuel or is this just a bad combo to put in the truck?? or did I forget something else I didn't do... ANY help is greatly appreciated
