Had LaRoy engines do some porting work on my Eddy heads and Air Gap for my 408. Put them on Friday, and ran the 1/8 mile this weekend. Doing nothing but port work, 2.05 intake valves and milling them .010 gave me a two tenth improvement in the heat of the day. Was running 7.90s last year, and with jet changing and upping my shift 200 rpm I wound up in the 7.70s. Now I have more breathing room for a bigger cam, and maybe an 850 carbureator.
