Funny story…and true!

When I was in school (yeah....I know....I didn't learn much), a buddy of mine inherited his aunt's 1956 Plymouth Belvedere (I think), with a 277 cid 2 bbl engine, and it was his daily driver. He wanted to obtain more power, and purchased '56 Fury that had a factory 2 4bbl engine, for $25!

I helped him go pick the Fury up, and drive it home. Since he did not have it registered, we had a little problem with the plates, but not to worry! Both cars were the same color, red and white, and the registration for his driver only said "'56 Ply, red/white", so we took the front plate off of his driver, and put it on the rear of the "Fury junker", and tore the two halves of the registration apart, each keeping one half. All is well, except that the Fury had no battery, so we took the battery out of the Belvedere, and started the Fury, and put it back in the Belvedere.

Everything goes great, with me following him down the road, (just in case he breaks down).........until I come around a curve, and see him pulled over by a State Trooper, for a registration check (no stickers);)!

Remember, he is driving the junker, with no registration! Knowing that the car would not restart without a battery, I quickly turned around, and pulled the legal car up bumper to bumper to the junker, and opened the hoods. The trooper never noticed that neither car had a front plate, or that both cars had the same plate number on the registration! And....he never checked the VIN!

WHEW!! Talk about close calls! :ROFLMAO:

I still laugh about that to this day! :o
