From A Monkey?

Some of you may remember me talking about my youngest son getting married last month & then having surgery 13 days later on his knee.
Here's some background. In 1996 he tore the ACL in his knee & had surgery to repair it. In 2006 he tore the ACL, MCL & Meniscus & had surgery to repair all of that, same knee. At that time the ACL was torn too bad to just repair, so they used a cadaver donor ligament to fix the ACL.
He has grown since his surgery in '06, now @ 6'4" & 240 lbs with 15% body fat & legs like tree trunks, very muscular due to his job & working out trying to stay in shape.
Earlier this summer his knee started popping & locking on him. Dr. did an MRI & found some torn cartlidge in his knee. That was the operation last month. During the operation the Dr. found the ACL repair in '06 had stretched with him getting bigger & felt that "sometime" in the future he would have to have it repaired again.
Unfortunately the "future" has arrived. The same knee that has had 3 operations is once again giving him troubles. His knee has fluid on it & is difficult to bend. They were going to operate after the 1st of the year, but....he has gone for a 2nd opinion that agreed with the 1st & will be going for a 3rd opinion this week.
The ACL is shot & needs to be replaced NOW. The plan is to get the largest cadaver ligament they can find & use it. Instead of using a human cadaver there is a strong possibility they will have to use one from a monkey. He hasn't reached 30 years old yet, ( but is very close).
I told him not to worry though as we will keep him supplied in banannas as long as he feels the urge.
I do feel for him as he works 3 jobs, new wife, and is a really good person. He has helped me out on some of my stuff while I was recouperating from critical injuries suffered in a car wreck. Maybe this time will do it. We sure are praying it will.
