Devotion for June 10th

O Lord, my God, I cried to you for help and you restored my health
– Psalm 30:2

Sometimes it’s hard to run.

Even more so when the weather is cold, or we are tired, or we have other
things to be doing. That commitment is commendable. Sometimes however, we have other things
that may stop us. It could be a pain in the knee, a twinge in the ankle, or soreness in t
he lower back.

You may choose to ignore these pains and run through them, or you may choose to pay attention to
them and listen to what your body is trying to tell you. If you make the decision to listen to what your
body is telling you, you may prevent further injury.

Our spiritual life is very much like our physical life. Are you just getting along day by day? Do you
feel as if you have a critical spirit, are being tempted or are apathetic to worship? Pay attention to
these warning signs. If you find yourself lacking in passion for your Savior, pay attention to that.

Do something to fix it, before it leads to further spiritual injury.

If you experience physical injury, take care of it sooner rather than later. Letting a small injury persist
unchecked, can lead to a more severe injury. Don’t get sidelined! Take care of yourself. If you
experience spiritual apathy, take care of it. Pray, communicate with your Heavenly Father.
Ask for forgiveness and ask for a sense of urgency. He can restore your passion.

Take care of yourself spiritually. As you are running today, think about this verse from Psalm 147:3 “He heals the
brokenhearted and bandages their wounds”
