So is anyone running a 273 commando engine? If so, you still at 10.5 compression and how’s she run on pump gas?
My 273 has been bored 40 over and am only running a dished piston with 4-valve relief. Figure I’m down around 8:1.
So befor I order a set of pistons, I would like to hear a little feed back.

Is this a decent buy?

How would I tell if it is open or closed? My knowledge on these is very lacking.

It is a SBP rear end.

It is a 489 case.
It has the pinion snubber and shock mouting plates.

The radial tires on my ’66 Form. S are at least 9 years old and show no real wear or aging. Sidewalls look great (no signs of weathering or cracking), treadwear is perfect & traction is fine! Based just on its age is it time for a new set? I tire place told me that tires, regardless of treadwear showed be replaced every 5 years.
