License Plate Light

Hey all,

A few weeks back, I purchased a license plate light off a memeber, I just have a quick question: How did these origianlly mount to the bumper? The light looks like it gets secured in by screws, but the bumper has larger slots… Do I have to worry about bolting it/screwing it in to keep good ground? or Can i just use the plastic ties to hold it in there…

Thanks for the help with this dump question!

Brake light switch

Hey guys, just noticed my brake lights are not working because the weird little connection is getting stuck in the plastic. Any short tips or tricks to fix this? All that is happening is the switch is rotating so when I hit the brakes, it’s not getting pulled down to the ground.

Anyone know Toyota engines?

A friend has a 1976 Toyota Chinook (small camper thing), with a 20R. The alternator is dead, and I know it supposedly is hard to match up alternators because they don’t all plug into one another in Yota’s. He also has a 1981 Toyota 4×4, with a 22R that just cracked the block, but has a newly rebuilt alternator.
The plugs in the wiring harnesses are different for both alternators. My question is, can we cut the plug out of the ’81 and splice it to the wires in the ’76 to make the alternator…

alternator tests good,but no charge

I replaced the /6 in my ’72 Duster with a 360 and now I can’t get any charge from the alternator.I even tried a second alternator and nothing, So I took both to an electrical shop and they both tested good. I know I am hooking it up right but it doesn’t show a charge at the gauge or at the battery with a meter. Is there something in the harness that would keep it from charging?

Firewall Connector

I am going to make my own engine wire harness. (Yes I am crazy) Anyways I was wondering where I can get firewall connectors. I want to use the factory style but i dont think i can get those connectors anymore. However i am not opposed to using an upgraded connector.:read2:

Electrical Re-Wiring Question

This could also be a restoration question as well…

I am replacing my wiring harness with the EZ wiring kit and wanted to know what you guys used to protect your wiring harness after replacing the old one.

I noticed that the original engine compartment used a vinyl non adhesive tape\wrap and the passenger and truck comparts used a cloth type tape\wrap, this too was non adhesive.

Thanks in advance…

Why does my new alternator have 4 posts, not three?

It has two for the fields, then one for the battery… what is the other post for?
