Fine tuning

First some figures about my build.
383 cid + .040
Square decked , pistons .022 down in the hole, steel shim gasket
915 heads with bigger valves
KB dished pistons
According to my calculation this would give a 10.2:1 in static CR.
MP purple cam 284/484
Eddie RPM intake
Eddie 750 carb
Eagle rods

Turn Signal Lever Question

I have installed a new turn signal cam which is a piece of junk. It doesn’t catch in either direction so I have to manually turn blinkers on and off. When I turn them off it is difficult to get the lever back exactly in the middle. I’ve noticed on another mopar that the lever just pops back to the middle. Is there a spring or something I am missing or is this done by the cam. Also, are the turn signals and brake lights the same element in the bulb or is it the turn signal and running light.

74 Duster Electrical

Well I read forums for about 2 hours before deciding to post. Here is the issue.

I have NO power to the fuse block at all. This just started and I think it may be something I did but do not know what it was. I pulled the instrumetn cluster out to replace light bulbs because the dash lights were not working. Not following the 101 for auto electrical I did not disconnect the battery. I think all would have been ok except while wedge under the dash I let my wrench touch the RED terminal of…

Another timing question

Hey guys,
I decided to throw a timing light on my 273 finally months after upgrading the ignition to electronic and ballparking it by ear. The car runs good , starts good but I was curious so I pulled out the tlight. Timing tag is readable on the left side of the water pump, but I can’t see a mark on the balancer. I know the Balancer has one and it’s not painted in. Like I said the car runs great but I need to find out what it is set at. Could the moron who built this motor lined up the…

MSD & Ballast Resistor Question

I have had my Ballast Resistor in-line with my MSD box since I installed it 4 years ago. A friend of my has (had) the same configuration and his MSD box started to miss fire. At first he did not know it was the box until he replaced all the spark plugs, wires, installed a new MSD distributor and finally the box… He contacted MSD to ask them what may have caused it to miss fire because normally the boxes tend to just die. MSD ask him if he had taken the Ballast Resistor out of line and told…

Intermittent spark loss – then OK.

1975 Scamp 318 – no mods, all original.

Just started having issues that I’ve narrowed down to no spark. It’s happened as follows 5 times now, thankfully, in the garage every time: When cold after sitting for 2-3 days it will start perfectly and after idling for about a minute, it will stop cold. At that point, no spark at front right plug. when trying to restart. If I wait an hour – sometimes less – it will start right up, and be fine – stopping and restarting multiple times with no problem….

Electrical Upgrades

I spent some of my time today documenting the recent upgrades that I made to the electrical system in the Demon. I moved the battery to the trunk, by-passed the ammeter and wired in a new clutch safety and by-pass switch. Majority of the parts came from MAD Electrical http://www.madelectrical.com/index.shtml and Summit Racing http://www.summitracing.com/. This thread should help others who are thinking about making these same upgrades.
