I bought this car not too long ago, and I noticed I would have a vibration above 2800 RPM’s or above 60 MPH. I was pulling the wheel off the other day to measure for clearance for my other wheels, and I may have found part of my problem. Apparently someone decided to turn small bolt pattern wheels into big bolt pattern. I will never understand why people take short cuts like this!

I’m planning on taking my slots off and putting on a set of steelies with poverty caps. The wheels are from a fury that I sold a while back. They are 15×8 with 4.25″ backspacing. It looks like it’s going to be a tight fit but I wondered if anyone else has made it work, and if so what tire size are you running. It looks like the fenders have already been cut, they come just to the outside of the chrome trim. Maybe 1 1/2″ of clearance.

The car is a 74 scamp with an 8 3/4 rear end….

Do I have enough clearance for tires?

I’m looking for a good running 360 for my duster. I’ve idiotically passed up on a couple decent buys on craigslist thinking something else would come along and it hasn’t.

What I’ll pay is contingent on the shape of the engine and what has been done …

So I’m still looking into some heads for my 318.

– I found a guy with a nice set of #308 heads – but I understand these are not as good as the #302 heads and will not raise compression?

– I have a set of factory heads from a 71 318 – Would taking them into the machine shop and having 1.88/1.60 valves in help with HP and maintain compression?

– I also found these on ebay, they guy is willing to work out a deal on. …

I was going to freshen up an old set of 318 heads and have 1.88/1.60 valves put in, and put in a new cam in my 318, but I found a guy that needs money and has a fresh 360 that he’s willing to sell pretty cheap. From the research I’ve found it shouldn’t be too hard to swap from a 318 to a 360.

The biggest difference is going to be internally vs.externally balanced?

My main question is, Can I just use the B&M 360 flex plate with my 318 torque converter?

Hey guys, My windows keep fogging up on me when I use the heater in my duster, so I feel down around the heater box and sure enough its leaking. I’ve watched some youtube videos and did a little bit of research online to find a good tutorial on my car. The process seems pretty straight forward, but this is another one of those tasks that I’ve never attempted before. I’ll be sure to buy a service manual so I won’t bother you folks as much in the future.

Any advice on putting the new one in?…

A couple good friends of mine have a restoration shop. They saved a 63 newport from a junk yard, and being a less desirable 4 door car they decided to get creative with it. I think the car looks pretty awesome. They’ve gone through everything from the interior to the engine. I like the look of the clear coated patina. I know the car won’t appeal to everyone, but I think they’ve taken a car that most people would overlook, to a sweet head turner, and a conversation piece for most cruise ins….
