68 Polara Cluster Removal

Hi! I’ve got my gauge cluster out. It felt like a risky venture pulling it. I did drop the steering column down. Also, iremoved the adjacent bezel panels. But it was very, very tight in between the upper and lower dash pieces. It felt like i was going to break something. Soon I’ll be installing it. I’m a bit worried. Is there a better way, or trick to doing this? Maybe some KY?

68 Polara Dash Lights

I just changed the old bulbs to some new led bulbs in my gauge cluster. I did it because it barely lit up with the old bulbs in it. Now the new LEDs mostly don’t light up at all. I got one of them to light up just a little bit. I’m thinking that the dimmer switch Isn’t sending enough voltage. On top of this the switches action is poor. Is there a way to bypass it? Or should I just by a new one. They’re a bit pricey. That’s my only hesitancy.

68 Polara Rewire Ammeter

Hi! I’m in the process of eliminating the mess caused by the Ammeter. So far I’ve ran a 10 Ga. wire from the alternator to the battery with a 100 amp maxi fuse proir to the battery. I plan on replacing the ammeter wiring through the bulkhead. I suppose I have to if I want the accessories to have power. I’m thinking of fusing these two wires with 30 amp fuses and using 12 Ga. wire all the way into the fusebox or wherever makes best sense. I realize, I must also connect together the two wires…

68 Polara Power Steering Pump

Hi! I did a rash thing. I bought a Saginaw for an engine that came with a Federal ps pump. I even spent money on a fancy bracket. Now I put a pulley on it that I had spare from a Cadillac. It’s not working out. Just looking for any tips that might salvage this job. Maybe a different pulley or bracket. Otherwise, it’s back to a very expensive Federal Pump. Here’s some pics.

383 Intake install

I’m installing the original cast iron intake back on my 383. I bought a valley gasket and some fiber gaskets that were listed as needed to go with it. I have two questions. First, are the fiber gaskets optional or necessary. My past experience w GMs makes me think they are optional? Also, the old valley pan that I pulled off, had what looked like fiberglass insulation sitting on top of the pan. Wondering if that’s optional as well? One, more question. Do folks paint the top of the valley…

68 Polara Seat comfort Problems

I’ll be pulling out my very standard no frills bench seat soon. I’ve got new carpet to place. The seats only control is back and forth. My problems are this. It’s very tight for me even w the seat back all the way. Once I get the the seat out. I plan on pulling out anything that could make the seat lower. If there is anything. I’m curious if there’s anything else I could do, less get a power seat, to make it more comfortable. The seat has no reclining either.

68 Polara Ac compressor

I’d like to replace my compressor but I’m thinking of upgrading to a modern compressor. One that is made for 134a. Does anyone know of such a compressor?
