70-71 340 unsilenced air cleaner finish question

I’m getting ready to put the the final paint on my air cleaner base, just need to know what is the correct for it. The inside is done in a satin black, and the outside is of course is the wrinkle, but which one of the two is the outer lip. I know it is a small detail, but I am there, so I might as well do it right. Picture of the area I am talking about.
