A Conversation On Drag Packs

I had a conversation with someone today -- who is in the know about many things Mopar. I can't say how he knows, as I don't want to rat him out -- but trust me, this guy knows!

Anyway, we got onto a conversation concerning Drag Packs.

I was misinformed, I thought that 100 were built for 2009, and that Mopar Performance was well on the way to building another 100 for 2010.

He tells me that 100 (with Doug Duell having #100) were indeed built in 2009, and that they're talking about doing 50 for 2010, but they've not built one 2010 yet.

I told him that I thought they'd already built some, and are the 50 going to be 2010s or 2011s -- since the 2010 model year is almost over.

He laughed and said that Chrysler won't be around in 2011.

I told him of the news article from FREEP (on the Home Page) saying that Chrysler claiming a 39% increase in May 2010 over May 2009.

He reminded me that virtually no Mopars were sold in May 2009 -- as the Factories hadn't geared up from being "Socialized" yet -- and that 139% of nothing -- is still nothing.

He says that there are a lot of vendors not paid, and not delivering parts -- and that there is a 60-day inventory needing to be sold.

Anyway -- I thought it to be an interesting conversation from someone with a lot of credibility. I wish I could say who, and quiet any skeptics.

I'm also hearing that untouched Drag Packs in private hands are trading for $55,000.
