I picked up a couple of bottles tonight. I'm a cheap bastard so I like to find deals (under 10 bucks) that taste good. I picked one from Washington State and one from Chile. They're both good :drunken: I think I got the Chilean wine cause it had a Devil on the bottle, lol! Casillero del Diablo means "Castle of the Devil". The Mexican dude at the liquor store was impressed that I could read spanish. He told me to come back and tell him which one was better so he could recommend it to his customers. He had a big old German Shepherd Dog there behind the counter too. OK, I'm rambling, lol.
The Chilean Merlot is a very dark red and quite robust. Smooth and dark cherry + woody flavors with a clean finish. A bit of a hole from first swig then it's awash in all the right flavors with no crappy aftertaste.
The Washington State Merlot is lighter, fruiter and a bit sweeter but with no hole from first taste to swallow. Well rounded yet not as mature as the Casillero del Diablo even though it's a year older. Younger, less established vines I suppose.
Both wines are 13.5% Alcohol. Wine can be fun, lol!
Alright, go ahead, give me crap. How can a motorcycle and car drag racein', motor buildin', gun shootin', deer huntin', Ramcharger drivin' mo fo like ramcharger dig wine? I'll tell you why. Jesus made wine for the masses, I don't get a headache, it's fun to mess with a stuck up girl on the first date about wine, it's red (my favorite color), and goes great with dead animals on my plate, lol! Plus I learned about wine with my first older woman when I was about 18 :) Reason enough?
