Making a long story short. In may 2014 my wife was in backyard with me doing her nails and a box turtle showed up. She thought he was cool so marked his shell with nail polish.
Unfortunately she passed away suddenly in early 2015 but like clockwork the turtle has shown up every May since. Can tell it's him because the nail polish mark is still on his shell.
Sure it's coincidence and he is just a turtle but boy does he bring the family great joy.
