ok, 71 Cuda with 727 TF on a SB. Before asked im sure it is a 727 and have a slap stick with Locar linkage. I really have two questions if someone can help, The first one is something i was told and don't know if its right, can you manually shift the trans and not hurt it at all? without a kick down cable hooked up? Its been told to me that when the previous guy who bought this was told by the original owner (not 1st owner) that as long as he shifted it manually nothing would happen to the trans, It does NOT have a manual valve body in it, seems to shift great and fluid always looks and smells good, no slipping, about 100 miles on since i had it so i tend to belive it but do need to ask?
@nd part is the locar cable i need to replace, its really no good, frayed and bad and would like a detailed way to adgust the kick down cable correctly so there is no more manual shifting that has to be done? Any answers i would apprciate, this is all i know about it, and does work well but not sure if its safe to do, hence a new cable set up and hooked up corectly. thanks to any and all for help.
