62 Valiant ignition woes

I recently bought a 1962 Valiant with a 225 slant.
At first she ran well but soon developed a rough idle and eventually she lost all spark.
I should mention that she is equipoed with factory electronic ignition.
I should also mention that I live in southern Nevada where the tempurature routinely tops 100°.
I replaced the ECU and all was well...for a week or so...then the same symptomes arose yet again.
My suspicion is that the heat is affecting the ECU.
I have decided to go with breaker points.
I'm a bit foggy on electrics so I am seeking advice as to how I can successfully make the change.
Will I still need the voltage regulator and ballast redistor?
From where should I draw power to supply the coil?
I have seen a few diagrams but they only show power from the battery fed to the coil through the ignition switch.
I'm hoping one of you can give me some help on this.
She is a beautiful car and is a joy to drive when running well.
I'm hoping for no more meetings with the tow truck driver ( I'm just glad I have an AAA membership ).
Thank you all.
