Traction help?

I have a 72 Cuda street car. The motor is a 440 that dynoed at 502hp and 545tq. I have a manual valve body 727 with an A-1 3800rpm converter. I am running an 8 3/4 with 4:10 gears. The car weighs around 3700lbs. Anyway, my 60' times aren't as fast as they should be. I best 60' was 1.62 with regular slicks with stock suspension. I order competition engineering 3 way adj shocks for the front and back. I also ordered super stock leaf spring. I was hoping to run faster times. After I switched the shocks and springs the best 60' I have had was 1.74. I launch around 2500rpm. Im not exactly sure where i have the shocks set at (I put them on about 3 years ago) Right when I step on it, it feels like it launches good, then loses traction after it launches. I was thinkin that either I dont have enough pinion angle or my shocks arent set right. Just wondering what I should try. My best 1/8 mile time before i did anything was 7.362 @ 96.50mph. After switching shocks and leafs it was 7.446 @ 96.00mph.
