TDC

I have a simple question. I tore the top end of my 440 down and changed heads, cam & lifters. I made sure the dist was on #1 when I started. I used a dial indicator after I tore it down & started reassembling it to put a good timing tape on the Balancer. I did not pay attention when I adjusted my lifters and lost true #1 TDC . I don't want to try to start it 180 out with a new cam. Will #1 TDC be after the intake valve closes and before the exhaust valve opens and set Balancer to 0 and drop my dist back in? I set the dist gear when I put the cam in so its ok. I marked the Dist as to how it was clocked to get me close so it should at least start. All the wiped cam stories have me a little nervous. Every thing is over lubed and should be fine but I tend to worry.
