small block oiling. HELP

I just bought a block and some other stuff from a circle track guy, and I’m not real impressed with what he did to the oiling system. he tapped the block at the oil filter area, and then ran it back into the OP sensor hole. (he was running a remote filter). it just seems sort of hokey to me, especially since he burned a couple of the journals on the crank. any help would be muchly appreciated, and thanks in advance for sharing your hard won knowledge with the rest of us.
