Mopar Madness in Langley

If anyone here is going to Mopar Madness in Langley tomorrow come over and say hi, I go over every year with a buddy of mine that has a little swap meet section there. Look for a red Chevy shortbox lowrider with several tables of Mopar parts around it.

Torsion Bar Crossmember Replacement

Picked up a ’72 Swinger recently. It has the usual rust issues (Quarters, Fender Extentions, Front Floors). The *BIG* issue, and the one I am going to tackle first, is replacing the torsion bar cross member. The original has a golfball sized hole rusted clear through it just inboard of the passenger side torsion bar socket, right about where the Tranny x-member is!!!! Luckily the car came with a replacement from a parts car.

My big question is how to jack up the car to perform the…

Today’s progress/before/after pics (lowered).

Got the lowering blocks in today, and did some more stuff under the hood.

The lowering blocks are aluminum 1.5 inch blocks which drasticaly brought down the ride height.
I know some of you guys hated the azz end up so darn high, so this is for you.
I think all and all it will be better in handling and launches.

The first pic here is before the blocks a couple months ago, then the rest of the pics are from today.

I met Rick Blackstock today

Actually he bought my boat. If anyone remembers him, he drove the Brief Encounter Jet car, Top Fuel Slingshot dragster and raced in the truck races in the 70’s and 80s’s

I remember seeing him race at SIR in the late 70’s, he blew the window out of the tower with the jet car when i was there.

He had a stroke a while back and has been doing other things lately. Took my boat to his house and was amazed at all the pictures, Early Unlimited Light Hydroplane races on Lake Sammamish.
