Which pistons?

This summer it will be time to rebuild my 273. Like many before me, I would like to rebuild it as a Commando, or at least something much like it. My machinist has done this before and he’s more than competent. But he tells me that the biggest problem is getting forged pistons, and even then I need to decide whether to find domed or flat pistons.

So here’s a question: Does anyone make forged pistons for my 273? Should I be looking for domed or flat?

I’m not looking to go nuts with the car….

When new, could you get a 71 motor in a 72 car?

Is that how it would work? Or should the year car and motor be the same??
A guy is selling his 71 engine out of a 72 Demon. Or he says its a 71 engine.

Hello, New Member here

Hey everyone,

I am a new member here, and a new A-body lover. I just bought my first car. A 1966 Dodge Dart 270 Sedan /6. It needs a little body work, and it needs some interior work, but it ran and drove home like a dream and sounds great. I got it for $650. Will post some pictures soon.

Just a quick note to say ‘Hi’ to everyone and give a bit of background…

I have owned a 1971 Dart Swinger Special (318, 727, 8-3/4 rear-end) for nearly 15 years now. Back in the day, my parents bought this one-owner car for my sister. Luckily for me she hated it. My dad decided to take it back as she didn’t want anything to do with it and he wanted to fix it up. Eventually, he realized he didn’t have the time or the money to do anything worthwhile and asked if I wanted it…boy did I jump…

Does this 360 seem worth the $$$?

Complete running 71′ 360 engine, rebuilt edelbrock 600 carb, edelbrock tocker manifold, chrome valve covers, J heads, points distributor, exhaust manifolds. Still in car, can hear run before puchasing. Minus fan, pullies, starter, some brackets and linkage. $600 firm.

Choke vs. no choke

Hey guys, I just rebuilt my Thermo-Quad carb and while I was getting the linkage hooked back up one of the choke linkage pieces broke. I just removed the choke hardware (left on the fast-idle stuff though) and figured I could just run without one, but I don’t want it to be a huge hassle to start cold. BTW this is going on my mildly-rodded street 318. The main reason I ask is because it seemed like before when the engine had the stock 2-bbl. BBD the choke was barely needed even when starting…
