I have read a few articles about the new Apple Watch due for formal release in the next few days. The "gotta have the latest and greatest high-tech gizmo" folks are chomping at the bit.
The watches will range from $349 to $17,000. That's right, $17,000, depending on manufacturing materials and options.
I am not high-tech enough to want more than a dial tone on my cell phone or correct time on my $30 Timex.
I have given this some thought and I believe the new Apple Watch will spark an increase in muggings and theft. Young men have been savagely attacked and robbed of their $150 sneakers.
If I had a watch like that, I would certainly not show it off and be careful where I walked. The possibility of grabbing a watch possibly worth thousands of dollars might be too much of a temptation to keep the ne'er do-wells away.
