magnum 380 crate questions??

the class i am going to has a 9.5 compression rule. this pretty much rules out my zero deck 308 head 360. it is too good of engine to try to take compression away. so then i got thinking about my ol 380 crate. there is no doubt that the roller cam is a no go, and im not a fan of the valve train for racing. I also have a fresh set of X heads with like .060 milled off (I was not happy!) these heads have aprox 100 laps since fresh. can i get away with using standard lifters in the Magnum block? I am guessing that the pistons on the magnum 380 are a bit down the hole and these overly milled heads will still be under 9.5.
Has anyone used the LA top end on a magnum?
