Lorrie Van Haul – 1967 Dodge P200 Postal Van

Hey All,
Permit me to introduce myself: I am JC Allison, caretaker and caregiver of Lorrie Van Haul, a 1967 Dodge P200 Postal Van that came to live with me in 1975 after retiring from delivering mail for the USPS in Houston, Texas.

Lorrie has been undergoing refurbishment since October of 2009, after having been in a coma since September 3, 1996.

On Sunday, February 25, 2012, Lorrie's mighty 225 Slant Six Engine was started for the first time in sixteen year. Alas, the poor old Holley 1920 Carburetor's Float Bowl Gasket got to leaking irreparably and thus a NOS Bendix Stromberg Model W Carburetor was found and acquired. It is presently wending its way from Richmond, BC, Canada (which is near Vancouver) via UPS. It is scheduled to arrive here in Texas on Monday, March 9, 2012.

Am hoping that the NEW Carburetor will render Lorrie's mighty 225 Slant Six runnable, and that work can then proceed on Lorrie 727 Torque Flight Transmission.

Everything that COULD be refurbished on Lorrie HAS been refurbished. She has been insulated, paneled, and repainted. She has had Hurculiner Bed Liner applied to her Floor, gotten NEW Rear Tires, had NEW Roof Vent installed above the Driver's Seat, which BTW is on the Starboard Side of the Vehicle. She has a complete set of Stewart Warner Gauges on her Dash Panel, and all NEW Wiring.

Lorrie is a big, gentle, and reliable sweetheart of a vehicle.

After leaving her job with the USPS, she went into ShowBiz, and became the equipment truck for the "AllisonWonderland Concert Lightshow" and has traveled from Eugene, Oregon, to New Orleans, Lousiana.

She is NOW, the Chase Truck for her running mate, Ms. American 3.14159, the ONLY 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Four-Door, Hard-Top, Fast-Back, Police Interceptor that Google finds on the whole Whole World Wide Web. She was bought NEW by my father in 1964, became my mother's daily driver. Was given to me when my mother could no longer get her driver's license. Has been MY daily driver ever since June, 6 1986.

Would have posted JPGs of both Lorrie and Ms. American, but can't do that until I've racked up twenty-five posts. But if you will Google either Lorrie Van Haul, or Ms. American 3.14159, you will find their webpages, and can see them as they were. Both have been considerably spiffed up since those JPGs were taken.

Anyway, have some questions to ask, but will ask them in the proper places.

Hope this finds you all doing well.
