Its lonely at the top for a Mopar guy – long sorry

So last year we won a lot of races and the points in the 4 cyl JYD class. So like most teams that are successful there we moved up to the proper ministocks for 2012. But unlike everyone else that does that, we did it with the same car. I love my Daytona. We get a pretty good weight break for our old 8 valve K-car motor so I figured it was worth a shot. Our first night out was dismal and ended with us being lapped in 7 laps and a mechanical DNF after 18. We came home disappointed but determined to make it better. The car came apart again and we started changing things and fixing things. The next week we decided to sit out rather than go back with a half baked effort. The next week was a rainout and bought us more time. We went back last week with a new paintjob, a new attitude and basically a new car. The only thing we never touched was the stock 1986 Kcar engine and auto tranny because it had never missed a beat and we wanted to sort out the chassis first. We came off the trailer and found ourselves running 17.75 vs the DOHC guys 17.4's. Anyway our car drives way better than anything out there. I regularly drive 4-5 cars further in than any of them, but their DOHC motors get me bad coming off. (solution coming in 2 weeks vroom-vroom). Anyway we finished the feature 4th with the leader in sight and with 2 more laps we probbly would have had 3rd. Well that ticked off the DOHC crowd. I've read and heard a lot about our car this week that is absolutely hilarious. If those yahoos spent 1/2 the time they spend yakking working on their cars maybe they wouldn't get embarassed by a K-car! And it urks them double when they realize its automatic. I bought a championship winning Neon off a guy to campaign in ministock and only originally only fixed the Daytona as a backup. But so far the way things are going, the Neon might be the backup. And if I ever get it to drive like the Daytona, those cats are FINISHED!! LOL
